LGBT History Month was started in 1994 by Rodney Wilson, a Missouri-based secondary school teacher. Wilson opted for February to coincide with a less
widely recognised precursor to Pride Day. His intention was to create a forum for collective exploration of the rich past and ongoing struggles of the LGBTQ+
community. The significance of this annual remembrance has magnified over time, acting as a channel for encouraging equality, nurturing acceptance, and
advocating rights.
